Downfield, set in beautiful parkland, surrounded by more than 100 species of trees, is a challenge to every golfer. The wildlife on the course is breathtaking with foxes, deer, and ducks, to name just a few, roaming around the grounds.
Course lowdown: The course is tree-lined and on the back nine you have to think about which side of the fairway is favourable to approach the subtly sloping greens. The toughest hole, the 1st, at 425 yards provides an exacting start. A dogleg left to right it plays its full yardage and requires two good blows for the average amateur. With the best par 3, the 12th, at 182 yards and slightly downhill you must play your shot over a pond to a green surrounded by trees and bunkers.

History: The first layout was lost as the land was returned to agriculture during the First World War. In 1932 nine new holes were laid out and the course was soon extended to 18. The current layout dates from 1964 when the layout was re-modelled once more.
