Dan Must Waite No Longer for First Win
Dan Waite produced a thrilling finale to pick up his first professional win on the EuroPro Tour
Dan Waite found the perfect time to seal his first professional victory as three birdies over Wensum Valley's closing five holes gifted him a one-shot triumph in the EuroPro Tour's Motocaddy Masters.
Waite slipped to two over-par for the event following a disappointing front-nine on Wednesday's final round, but he roared home with birdies on 15, 16, and 18 to finish on one under-par.
The 24-year-old trailed 36-hole leader Billy Fowles by four shots, but the Wentworth golfer crumbled to a closing 80 and handed Waite an opportunity he would seize with both hands.
"It feels great to get my first professional win under my belt," said Waite, who takes home a £10,000 cheque and new Motocaddy S3 PRO trolley.
"I want to take it from here and try and get a couple more."
Waite's 218 total was enough to fend off former Walker Cup star Stiggy Hodgson, who finished with a two over 75, and Paul Grannell, who surged through the field with a best of the week 68, by one stroke.
This year marks the eighth consecutive year that Motocaddy has been the official electric trolley of the PGA EuroPro Tour, a circuit that has produced major winners such as Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, plus Ryder Cup stars Ross Fisher and Nicolas Colsaerts.

Motocaddy Chairman David Wells said: "The quality of players on the PGA EuroPro Tour means the Motocaddy Masters regularly conjures up drama right down to the final hole and this year was no different.
"We congratulate Dan, who showed nerves of steel to win his first event, but also the PGA EuroPro Tour for laying on yet another fantastic event."
Highlights of the Motocaddy Masters will air on Sky Sports HD on Wednesday 15 May.
