4. MD Golf Superstrong irons £299 (5-SW and two hybrids)

The long irons in the set are replaced with two forgiving hybrids. The large headed irons have a thick sole and top line, as well as the over-sized head, all for improved playability.

5. Cleveland CG7 irons £399 (4-PW)

Gelback technology has been advanced with a 360° dampener that reduces vibrations and provides consistent feel across the face. A micro cavity moves weight lower and deeper in the head.

6. Benross VX6 irons £229 (5-PW and one hybrid)

A wide sole, large thin face and extreme perimeter weighting all combine to improve forgiveness. The thickness of the top line and the offset is progressive from short to long irons.
