Golf Club St Leon-Rot in Germany will be playing host to the Allianz German Girls’ Championship this week and it will serve as a mini dress rehearsal for the 2015 Solheim Cup and the PING Junior Solheim Cup matches to be played on the famous course.
The course was announced as the venue for the 2015 matches late last year, with Germany never having staged either competition before. It is also the first time one club has been used for both matches.
John A Solheim, Chairman CEO of PING, sees St Leon-Rot as the perfect venue for the competitions in two years time.
“We are very excited to have The PING Junior Solheim Cup on the beautiful St Leon-Rot, the first time the junior matches will be held on the same venue as The Solheim Cup.
“The PING Junior Solheim Cup has been held on some wonderful courses but always on a separate facility from the professional competition. This will offer a wonderfully exciting and rewarding experience for the juniors to compare their play with that of the best lady professionals from Europe and the United States.”
The Allianz German Girls’ Championship will be the third qualifying event for this year’s PING Junior Solheim Cup, which will be played at Inverness Golf Club in Denver, Colorado in August.
A strong International field will embark upon Heidelberg, hoping to secure one of the 6 automatic spots, with only 6 tournaments marked as qualifying events. The remaining 6 qualifiers will be chosen by Captain’s picks.
