It was a busy week for some as press week was upon us at Golf Monthly, but that’s not stopped us bringing you the biggest news in golf.

Up first, Padraig Harrington has been named by his fellow professionals as the inaugural winner of The European Tour Players’ Player of the Year Award for 2008. While the Faldo Series Ireland Championship has moved to to Lough Erne.

Meanwhile over in America Tiger Woods came from nowhere to win the Memorial Tournament after posting a final round of 65 and to beat Jim Furyk by one shot – it was Tiger’s 67th career PGA Tour title.

There was yet another surprise winner on the European Tour with Jeppe Huldahl of Denmark  winning The Celtic Manor Wales Open and to claim his first European Tour victory.

Equipment wise we have looked at Adams Speedline driver – there of course is many more reviews on our equipment section.

With no European Tour event this week, all the serious golf betting attention is on the St Jude Classic and David Toms was our man’s major pick.

As ever there are plenty of golf competitions including the chance to win VIP tickets to the Barclays Scottish Open thanks to Ballantine's whisky.

You also have the chance to win a trip to Carnoustie courtesy of Land Rover, a golfing holiday to the island of Lanzarote, a three night luxury golf break to Prague and there are many more as well.

For all of these great competitions and our regular quizzes including Beat the Experts, Rules, and Guess the Hole, visit our competitions page.

Finally, congratulations to Graeme Storm and Raphael Echenique who led a high quality 96-man field at Sunningdale to clinch places in the field for The Open at Turnberry.
