Hyundai Tournament of Champions golf betting guide

A new year and time to turn our attentions to the betting markets. The Africa Open is short of big names with a number of the world's finest lining up in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions but here are our betting guides for both events

Hyundai Tournament of Champions betting:

Main players:

Graeme McDowell

How will our columnist follow up his amazing 2010? Confident as we are that he'll go on to win many more tournaments, with a change of clubs and just a short break, we won't back the US Open champion this week, although 12/1 was tempting.

Ernie Els

The Big Easy is second favourite at 10/1, a tempting price given his form and decent record in Hawaii.

Geoff Ogilvy

The 8/1 Australian is a vulnerable favourite at 8/1, especially given a poor season in 2010. Favourite on the basis he's defending champion.

Dustin Johnson

A 12/1 shout for the big-hitting American and his length off the tee could set up some low scoring. Putting remains a concern.

Matt Kuchar

Can he possibly better 2010? Time will tell but for now we're going by the theory that backing up 2010's achievements will be tough.

Advised bets:

Jim Furyk 3pts each-way at 12/1. A reliable performer who seems to have added a winning mentality to his game.

Adam Scott 2pts each-way at 20/1. The Australian showed signs of his best in 2010 and there's no reason why he won't start 2011 in confident fashion.

Anthony Kim 1pt each-way at 33/1. After surgery we think the old Kim will return in 2011 and it's worth a small bet that he'll find his form this week.
