Simon Dyson

It's always a hard week to make predictions the week after the Masters but a strong field has gathered for the Maybank Malaysian Open and we're determined to get back to winning ways.

Martin Kaymer is favourite at 8/1 but after last week's missed cut we're steering clear of the world number one. Question marks also hang over Rory McIlroy after his final-day collapse at Augusta. However, we would not be surprised to see the young Ulsterman contend this week given that the slate has been wiped clean. His iron play was the best in the field in Georgia and it was clear the pressure caught up with him on Sunday, understandable of course. That hole will no longer seem so small and he'll get back to birdie ways, we're sure of that.

A man who has form in this part of the world in Simon Dyson. He has each-way credentials at 40/1 and although there are some stronger players in the field there is bound to be a Masters hangover for a few of the big guns. That includes eventual winner, Charl Schwartzel. The South African has long been one of the game's best ball strikers but his win at Augusta came as a surprise. He's now 12/1 and that's short, even if he is now a Major winner.

Even though the field has a few star names like those mentioned above, there is not a great deal of strength in depth. There are a number of seasoned campaigners who have appeal, like Dyson, and our second pick Raphael Jacquelin recently recorded his first European Tour win in four years at the Sicilian Open. The Frenchman looks a far more confident player now and is capable on following up on that victory this week.

Don't forget that if you fancy a bet this week, Ladbrokes is offering

£30 in free bets, further details of which you can find below.
