Seve Ballesteros

MD Golf Seve Pedrena wedge, £59.99

Key technology: An area is removed from the sole to help reduce resistance from the turf. The same amount of weight is then removed from the top of the club to balance out the centre of gravity.

A great-looking wedge that produces a really solid sound out of the middle. Despite the sole grind this is still a classic looking wedge that we really like. Gave plenty of control on full shots.

Forgan Series 1 wedge, £25

Key technology: A wide sole and extra weight low and deep in the head offer added forgiveness, helping to produce high-flying, full shots. The sole design also helps escapes from thick rough and bunkers.

This is one for those who really struggle around the greens. What it lacks in looks it makes up for in playability for the game-improver. You'll either love it or hate it.
