Memorial Tournament preview

Jack Nicklaus' tournament at Muirfield Village always attracts an impressive field and this year is no exception with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson among the star attractions.

Tournament: Memorial Tournament

Course: Muirfield Village Golf Club

Prize fund: $6,000,000

Course details: par 72, 7,265 yards. This prestigious event is held on one of Nicklaus' finest designs, opened in 1974 on a 220-acre site in Dublin, Ohio. As well as the Memorial Tournament, the course has also hosted the 1987 Ryder Cup, the 1992 United States Amateur Championship and the 1998 Solheim Cup. Water comes into play on 11 holes and a number of changes in elevation will severely test distance control.

Key hole: The 166-yard 12th is one of the most recognisable holes. It's a stunning par 3 to a two-tiered green protected by sand and water.

The lowdown: Jack's tournament was created to remember the great players of the past and always attracts the top players of the day. Tiger Woods will be in attendance and it will be interesting to see whether Phil Mickelson?s fine form continues after his commanding win in the Players Championship. Justin Rose will be a notable absentee after pulling out to protect his back for the US Open which starts on June 14.

Contenders: Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Paul Casey
