The championship will be staged for the 91st time at the Royal Sydney Golf Club, Rose Bay and will be acting as a shop window to the rest of the world for Australian golf with the presence of 25 homegrown players. Homelanders Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Greg Norman, Aaron Baddeley and defending champion Robert Allenby, along with plenty more of the countries finest golfers, will be competing.

Greg Norman is on a personal mission to finally equal Jack Nicklaus?s six open titles after some years away, whilst Robert Allenby, whos form in recent weeks in the U.S. has been reasonable, will be trying extent his reign as Australian Open Champion. However, the favourite is Adam Scott who has shown that he is ready to win a major anytime soon following an impressive performance so far this year in 2006.
