Nedbank Golf Challenge: golf betting guide
Thirty of the European Tour's best players are in South Africa this week for the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City.
It will be the first time the tournament - formally an off-season exhibition - will feature on the Race to Dubai schedule.
The likes of Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Charl Schwartzel, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer and a host of other top names will tee it up this week.
The Gary Player Country Club is a long and difficult track that offers arresting views of the Pilanesberg Mountains.
As such, a proficient long game and the ability to avoid bogeys will be the keys to successes this week.
Following his Race to Dubai triumph Stenson is the 3/1 favourite with Ladbrokes this week, but those odds are less than favourable. That statement can also be applied to Schwartzel (6/1) and Rose (7/1). Therefore, I'd be tempted to look elsewhere.
Defending champion Martin Kaymer, at 14/1 with Ladbrokes, is a decent option this week. He's a huge fan of the golf course and his recent form has been superb. Indeed, he hasn't finished outside the top 25 in his last six European Tour starts.
Victor Dubuisson, at 33/1 with Ladbrokes, is an exciting prospect and someone with an affinity for playing attacking golf. He's an aggressive player in the form of his life - having won the Turkish Airlines Open and contending at the DP World Tour Championship - and that combination could be dangerous in a tournament of this nature.
Brendon de Jonge, at 40/1 with Ladbrokes, is well overdue his first European or PGA Tour victory. He played well last week at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and he'll still be flying high after a brilliant debut performance at the Presidents Cup. The burly Zimbabwean is a birdie machine and he'll be comfortable playing in his home continent.
