How hard do you hit your short putts? Paul McGinley shows you how to increase your close range conversion rate

Some players like to hit crucial short putts hard to remove as much of the break as possible but I prefer to be a little more careful.

In many respects this is down to personal preference, what you feel most comfortable doing. However, I know that if the ball is travelling at dead weight, my chances of lipping out are greatly reduced.

If you choose to follow my lead and roll your short putts into the front of the cup, make sure that your stroke doesn?t lack conviction. As long as you accelerate through the ball, the putt should hold a good line.
