Stenson signs for Srixon

Srixon are celebrating the signing of Ryder Cup hero Henrik Stenson after the Swedish world number twelve agreed a lucrative sponsorship deal with the Japanese equipment manufacturers.

Japanese firm Srixon today announced the signing of world number twelve Henrik Stenson, who has penned a contract to endorse Srixon clubs and play balls from their Z-UR series in future tournaments.

Srixon will be delighted to have beaten stiff competition to the signing of one of golf's rising stars, whose stock has risen dramatically over the last couple of seasons. In 2005 the 30 year-old Swede enjoyed nine top-ten finishes on the European Tour, and this season he finished third in the prestigious Players Championship in Florida and then lifted two European Tour titles on his way to a sixth-placed finish in the Order of Merit. At the Ryder Cup at the K Club in September he sank the winning putt as Europe triumphed by nine points over the USA, rising his profile further still.

With world number two Jim Furyk as their main man on the USPGA Tour, Srixon will be hoping that Stenson enables them to continue penetrating the market in Europe. Srixon are now recognised as the number two golf ball in the UK market and will be relying on Stenson to extend that success onto the continent.

It has been revealed that the big hitting Swede will be using Srixon 506 irons and the two parties will be working hard to customise some of their other clubs so that Stenson can get them into his bag as soon as possible.
