Tiger woods leads Brandt Snedeker and Nick Watney by six shots in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in California with just 11 holes of his final round to complete.
Problems with fog have meant the competition has had to spill over into Monday and so Woods will have to wait to record his 75th PGA Tour title. It looks inevitable that Tiger will go on to claim the victory, but his pursuers have not given up hope.
“All we can do tomorrow is go out and try to make him think about it a little bit and see what happens,” said Nick Watney.
It’s going to be a tough ask as Tiger’s game is looking solid. Even though his driving was a little off in the early part of the final round, he was still able to pick up three birdies in seven holes. The World Number two is also a specialist on this course having picked up seven victories at Torrey Pines.
“I was pleased to build on my lead,” he said. “I’ve driven well, hit my irons well, chipped and putted well. OK, I’ve hit good putts, they haven’t all gone in.”
Woods has gone on to win 49 of the 53 times he’s held the 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour so the chasing pack have their work cut out.
