Women’s world number one Yani Tseng has declined an invitation to play in the Puerto Rico Open, on the men’s PGA Tour, next March.
Tseng had previously indicated she would be open to the idea of playing in a men’s competition when making comments to the press in Taiwan.
Tseng’s long-time adviser, Ernie Huang is reported to have notified Puerto Rico tournament chairman Sidney Wolf of the decision on Monday.
Huang said: “Yani wants to remain focused on playing women’s events. It would be too much of a distraction for her right now as she has many other goals she would like to accomplish in the women’s game.”
