US launch for MD Golf
Irish equipment manufacturers MD Golf are looking to break into the US market, and their presence at the recent Orlando PGA trade show, via a link-up with an American distributor, has given them a great chance of success.
In the last three years Irish equipment manufacturer MD Golf has developed a successful export business and has shipped products to over 30 countries worldwide. The next logical step for them is to break into the hugely lucrative US market and the first steps towards achieving this goal came last week at the 54th PGA trade show in Orlando.
In December 2006 MD negotiated the appointment of the Los Angeles firm, Sports Source Inc, as their distributor in the US. Sports Source Inc has over 15 years of experience in the golf market and the deal was seen by MD's bosses as a major coup.
So far, the alliance has proved to be highly promising. The Orlando convention (pictured), coverage of which was brought to you last week via Golf Monthly's 'Gear Blog', was used by MD to gauge the reaction in the US to their products and according to the company it was a real success. Feedback suggested that US retailers were ready to embrace quality products at the lower-priced end of the market.
"We are delighted to be working with the Sports Source team," said MD Golf's Michael Morton on his return from the US.
"Having met the full sales team in Orlando and seeing the reaction from key buyers we believe that with a combination of Sports Source's contacts and our own expertise we can turn MD Golf into a truly global brand."
