Wachovia Championship preview
Vijay Singh is one of the favourites around Quail Hollow, in a stellar field that includes 29 of the world's top 30 ranked professionals
Tournament: Wachovia Championship
Course: Quail Hollow GC, North Carolina
Prize Fund: $6,300,000
Course Details: Par 72, 7,442 yards. Designed by George Cobb in 1961, Quail Hollow has enjoyed several modifications by club member Arnold Palmer. It first hosted the Wachovia Championship in 2003. So far no player has ever posted four sub 70 rounds, a testament to its difficulty. However 29 out of the world?s top 30 will attempt the feat this week.
Key Hole: The 217-yard, par-3 17th will test the player?s nerve come Sunday. Water encroaches front and left of the green forcing players to carry 200 yards. A fade will be required to stop the ball on a green that slopes towards the water.
The Lowdown: Luke Donald will hope to go one better than his disappointing 2nd place finish last week. Fellow European Henrik Stenson will make his first appearance and the big hitting Swede will look to pick up strokes on the par 5?s. The favourite though must be Vijay Singh, current leader of the FedEx Cup standings.
Contenders: Vijay Singh (pictured), Luke Donald, Henrik Stenson
