Wilson Smooth driver, Wilson Di9 irons and Wilson Nc9 irons set to launch

Wilson Staff will be launching a new range of clubs. The Wilson Smooth driver, Wilson Di9 irons, Wilson Nc9 irons and Wilson Tw9 should, between them, offer an appealing blend of forgiveness and playability.

Wilson Staff is set to launch a new range of clubs that includes Wilson Di9 irons and a new Wilson Smooth driver in a bid to capitalise on the major-winning success of brand ambassador, Padraig Harrington.

Wilson’s Di9 irons feature a sweetspot positioned more towards the toe than most conventional irons, as this is where the majority amateurs mis-hits are made. An insert placed in the cavity should soak up any unwanted vibrations for a better overall feel.

The face of the Wilson Smooth driver is of variable thickness to increase the size of the sweetspot. And as the name suggests, the Wilson Smooth has been designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to offer “powerful efficient performance.” Available in February, Wilson are offering a selection of the best Aldila, ProForce and Fujikura shafts in the Smooth driver.

In addition, Wilson will also launch a new set of Wilson Nc9 ‘precision irons’. Titanium has been welded onto the face a stainless steel body to offer improved power and forgiveness. The compact head design shouldn’t make these feel too bulky at address.

Wilson are also planning to launch a new line of wedges called Wilson Tw9. Available in gunmetal and satin finishes, the lower lofted wedges feature cavity backs that should help “bridge the gap between the modern pitching wedge and the sand wedge.”

Reviews of the Wilson Staff’s Spine driver, Wilson Nc9 irons and Wilson Tw9 wedges will follow soon, both in print and online.
