Wyndham Championship golf betting guide: Advised bets and odds

It's a pivotal week in the PGA Tour season with the final qualifying event before the Fedex Cup play-offs. Paul Krishnamurty gives us the lowdown on who to back in this week's golf betting and form guide.

Though we've yet to pick up any place returns, recent selection JASON DUFNER also looks worth persevering with. It was particularly frustrating to see him grab a place at a huge price in the Canadian Open, after letting us down two weeks consecutively beforehand. A more optimistic response is to take that result, Dufner's fifth top-10 of by far his best season, as vindication of his previous selection, and evidence that he is fast becoming a regular contender. All four rounds here last year were sub-70, and he has gone well in other North Carolina tournaments before.   Another with college connections to the state is JOE OGILVIE, who returned to form last time out with 4th at Montreux. Ogilvie is only just inside the crucial top-125 on the points list, so should be well focussed. Moreover, he won at Sedgefield way back in 1998, and looks set for a big run once again as he usually ranks very highly in those pivotal putting average stats.   Others worth mentioning include Brandt Snedeker, who won this tournament on a different course two years ago. He is hugely respected, but was disappointing at the PGA. JJ Henry has some good previous form at Sedgefield and warrants close consideration on that basis, along with a couple of encouraging recent results. The other two who made the final shortlist were Rod Pampling and last year's 6th Kevin Streelman.   Instead, the final place in this week's portfolio goes to a rank outsider, LEE JANZEN at 125/1. The twice former US Open champion strikes a similar profile to last year's big-priced runner-up Scott McCarron in so far as he is a forty-something who only occasionally shows his old abilities these days. Janzen's 15th place here was one of his best efforts of 2008, which was a less productive season than this one. Having twice made the top-5 this time around, including on his penultimate start, Janzen looks in his best form for a long time.   Good Luck!   Advised bets for the Wyndham Championship
