Your Golf Travel has extended Seve Day for another month in response to exceptional public demand and overwhelming support from golf fans across Europe.

Celebrities, golfing stars and the general public have all given their backing to the pan-European tournament, set up in May by Your Golf Travel in conjunction with the Seve Ballesteros Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

The tournament began on July 1 and was originally scheduled to finish on July 31, with participants submitting their best stableford score from the month – recorded on any European course – to www.seveday.com.

However, the submission period has now been extended until the end of August, thanks to the fantastic response Seve Day has received.

Despite the poor weather, more than 1,000 people signed up to the event in July, with Jose Maria Olazabal, Peter Alliss, Justin Rose, Ian Poulter and DJ Chris Evans among many high-profile figures endorsing the tournament.

Players recording the lowest 72 stableford rounds from July and August will be invited to compete in the star-studded Seve Day grand final at The Belfry in October, with the chance to win a trip to Augusta National for the 2013 Masters on the line.

What’s more, the final will be covered by VPAR, whose state of the art scoring system will offer competitors live, up-to-date leaderboards.

Your Golf Travel co-founder, Ross Marshall, said: “The support Seve Day has received so far has been phenomenal, and all the more so when you consider how bad the weather has been this summer.

“The event has really captured the imagination of people. Seve was a hero to millions and we feel it is only right to give more golfers the chance to take part.”

In return for a £25 entry fee, which goes directly to the Seve Ballesteros Foundation, participants also receive £250 worth of vouchers, golf lessons, free balls and complimentary rounds of golf.
