Callaway Big Bertha driver
Golf Monthly Verdict

GM verdict: Just when we thought club designers couldn’t cram in any more adjustability, the team at Callaway came up with something different. The change in CG, combined with the other adjustability, does make clear differences to ball flight, and really does mean that this is a head than can be set up for any type of golfer. This is all achieved in a relatively traditional head that looks great at address. Distance from the middle with the right setting is very impressive.But... this much adjustability and technology comes at an eye-watering price. PGA pro verdict:Wow! I loved the performance of this driver straight from the box. To have the capability to adjust the centre of gravity in the head did give fantastic results. I could adjust both the launch and spin on offer, as well as alter draw and fade bias, where the face was aiming and the loft, all with a few twists of the wrench. This gave me the ability to create the flight that I required without having to change my swing at all. The feel and ball speed on offer was superb, and the head shape is very classic. This is a technology-packed driver that’s full of features and really does improve your driving performance. Brilliant.Test team rating:Performance: 4.5/5Visual appeal: 4.5/5Innovation: 5/5Value: 4/5Overall: 4.5/5

Key technology:

A Gravity Core in the sole allows the centre of gravity (CG) height to be changed. When the heavier end is positioned closest to the sole it creates a lower CG and less backspin. When the tungsten end is inserted first, it creates a mid-CG position, making it higher launching. Movable weights allow trajectory to be altered, while adjustability allows for loft and shot shape changes.

Will suit... players looking to control spin and adjust ball flight.
