Golf Monthly's Paul O'Hagan reviews Adams Golf's XTD forged irons
Above, Golf Monthly Technical Editor Paul O'Hagan gives his Adams XTD Forged irons review.
XTD Forged irons boast a floating face and hollow design - which helps to promote a fast club face - while the category's first ever Cut-Thru slots and an optimised GC location help add distance and forgiveness.
"We created a forged iron that's caught up to our legendary hybrid technology, breaking the mould of what's been around for 80 years," said Justin Hornea, Adams' Senior Director of Research and Development.
"Most blades sacrifice distance for workability but we're giving extra yards and improvement on off-centre shots."
The seven-piece set is available from 4-PW.
The XTD forged irons were released at the same time as the XTD driver.
Adams tested each driver head four times - at odds with current industry precedent - to ensure maximum spring-like effect while still conforming to USGA limits.
The aerodynamic XTD is also the only driver to feature Cut-Thru technology.
When combined, these two innovations provide face flexion and an enhanced sweet spot, providing greater ball speeds on both off-centre and on-centre shots.
The XTD family also features fairway woods and hybrids, along with non-forged XTD irons.
The XTD irons come with an RRP of £699.
