Clubhouse Golf

Key technology:

Aimed at players looking for added clubhead speed and improved distance thanks to lightweight shafts and grips. The centre of gravity has been moved lower and deeper towards the back of the head to help launch the ball on a higher trajectory. The large Ti clubface is strong, but very thin. This helps to improve the distance on offer and weight can be utilised elsewhere in the head.

Will suit: players looking for added distance through the set.

Verdict

GM verdict: Although these are predominantly aimed at older players looking to regain distance, they will actually suit anyone who wants to hit their irons further. The fact that the clubs produce such a high launch means the lofts can be made stronger and the lightweight shafts are made longer. This produces amazing results with each club going at least a club further without sacrificing height or control. The high-quality finish looks great and the Zip Grooves produce a lot of spin from the short irons. The Ti face helps to produce a powerful feel, with the ball exploding off the face. But...the irons are so long that you might need to fill a gap at the wedge end of your bag. PGA Pro verdict: The titanium face makes a big difference to the weighting to make them very forgiving. The top edge is quite thick, but that doesn?t bother me as it tells me that the forgiveness and performance is there. The long irons produced a beautiful feel off the face and performance was amazing. The design of the head and the flight they produced was almost hybrid like. If you?re looking for a powerful performance iron with plenty of forgiveness then you should definitely try these.
