Classic leather uppers are combined with 100 moulded traction bars that replace traditional spikes. Ecco’s Hydromax technology is designed to provide a high level of water resistance to make the shoes suitable for use in all weathers. The traction bars are made from TPU, which has been proven to last five times longer than rubber.
Will suit: anyone looking for retro styling and modern technology.
GM verdict: With a traditional look, plenty of support and the benefits of a spikeless design, this shoe has clearly been designed with Ecco tour players in mind. Wearing the Tour Hybrids gives the feeling of being close to the ground, but the classic leather uppers also help to hold the foot in place a lot better than many of the modern spikeless designs. Those who haven?t tried spikeless shoes before will be surprised at the impressive grip and support on offer. But... the disadvantage of the leather uppers is that the lightweight feel of other Ecco spikeless designs is sadly missing. A period of wearing in is also required. PGA pro verdict: As expected, these Ecco shoes are comfortable and practical. The classic brogue design, coupled with the new dimple sole, gives a stylish, retro appearance, but with modern comfort and performance. They were a perfect fit straight out of the box. I used these shoes to both play in and coach in, and they performed beautifully. The sole didn?t give any problems in terms of grip, even in the recent poor weather. However, I think they?re best suited to the summer months. A quality product, beautifully made. Test Team Rating: Performance: 4/5 Visual Appeal: 4.5/5 Innovation: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 4/5
