Ryder Cup Dates: September 25-27 2020

The Ryder Cup 2020 will be the 43rd to take place.

Twelve man teams from Europe and USA will meet at Whistling Straits, Wisconsin, USA to battle it out over three days of dramatic matchplay golf.

The Course – Whistling Straits

The 42nd Ryder Cup is being played at Whistling Straits, outside Sheboygan in Wisconsin.

The course measures 7,790 yards  with a par of 72, the course is a spectacular layout designed by Pete Dye who sadly passed away in January.

Whistling Straits has hosted three USPGA Championships over the years with Vijay Singh (2004), Martin Kaymer (2010) and Jason Day (2015).

It is a spectacular course that leads to dramatic and exciting play and should lead to a memorable event.

The Format

Friday 25th September

Morning Fourballs: 4 points to be won

Afternoon Foursomes: 4 points to be won

Saturday morning pairings to be announced within an hour after play finished on Friday

Saturday 26th September

Morning Fourballs: 4 points to be won

Afternoon Foursomes: 4 points to be won

Sunday morning singles line-up to be announced within an hour after play finished on Saturday

Sunday 27th September

Singles: 12 points to be won

The Home Captain chooses fourballs or foursomes first on Thursday and Friday.

First team to get 14 1/2 points wins the Ryder Cup – if scores are level at 14 points a side then Europe will win as they won the 2018 Ryder Cup

The Players

Each team consists of 12 players –

Europe has 9 players who qualify automatically and then 4 Captain picks.

The USA has 8 players who qualify automatically and then 4 Captain picks.

 Captains Padraig Harrington and Steve Stricker are set to lock horns in tactical battle in what could be one of the best Ryder Cup matches of the modern era.

 

Europe – Padraig Harrington from Ireland captains his first team, he has named one vice captain in the form of Robert Karlsson.

USA – Steve Stricker, who is from Wisconsin, captains his first Ryder Cup with Jim Furyk named as his only vice captain so far.
