Europe entered the second day with a 5-3 lead after an emphatic Friday foursomes session following a 2.5-1.5 American victory in the first session of the contest.
European captain Paul McGinley sent out Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson first in the Saturday fourballs to take on a new US pairing of Matt Kuchar and Bubba Watson.
In the second match, Jamie Donaldson and Lee Westwood rekindled their partnership to go up against Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan.
Martin Kaymer and Thomas Bjorn again joined forces against rookie duo Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, while Rory McIlroy played with Ian Poulter against Jimmy Walker and Rickie Fowler.
Rose and Stenson shot a combined 12-under-par in 16 holes to see off Watson and Kuchar – themselves eight-under-par – in a brilliant first match.
Kuchar and Mahan dovetailed perfectly to inflict defeat on Westwood and Donaldson, and Spieth/Reed bounced back from 2 down early to claim an impressive 5&4 triumph.
In the anchor match, Poulter produced a find chip-in to spark a European comeback and an eventual half with the impressive Fowler and Walker.
In the foursomes, Westwood and Donaldson defeated Kuchar and Johnson, while McIlroy and Garcia saw off Mahan and Furyk.
McDowell and the impressive Dubuisson thrashed Walker and Fowler 5&4 before Rose holed a 5-footer on the 18th to take a half off Spieth and Reed.
