Watson started his professional career on the Nationwide Tour in 2001 but failed to make an impression in the first few years.

The golfer recognised for his shot making decided to go back to university in 2008 to complete his degree after wanting to be a role model to younger kids. Watson wanted to encourage kids to get an education so they could recognise their dreams.

Watson had to wait until 2010 to win his first PGA Tour title. In June, the American won the Travelers Championship. As a result of impressive form, he was selected to play in the prestigious Ryder Cup that October.

In 2011, his impressive form continued, by winning another two championships on tour. In January he won the Farmers Insurance Open and in May he won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Watson won his first Masters in 2012 after beating Louis Oosthuizen in a sudden death play-off after they both finished on 10-under-par. His victory will be remembered for the extraordinary shot played from the woods to win the famous green jacket.

In 2014, Watson picked up his second Masters victory, beating Jordan Spieth with a final round 69. He won at Augusta by three clear strokes, shooting 8-under-par throughout the four days. The exuberant American has achieved what only three other players have done by winning the Masters twice in three years. These players are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickleson and Jack Nicklaus.

In the 2014-15 season, Watson made 15 out of 17 cuts. He finished inside the top 10 on 10 different occasions and he finished 5th overall in the final FedExCup standings for the second consecutive season.
