Biography: During his illustrious playing career, Peter competed alongside many of the game’s greats – Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson, Gary Player and Greg Norman, to name but a few. In 1977, he became the first left-hander to compete in the Ryder Cup. Since turning his attention to coaching, Peter has become a recognised PGA Master Professional and has also coached three national amateur teams – Denmark, Morocco and Switzerland. Peter now lives in Hampshire and works with the county’s elite junior squads as well as individuals, from scratch players to beginners.
Teaching philosophy: “For the average amateur, I try to keep the technique simple by explaining where we are step by step, and where we could be after a course of lessons.”
Best tip: “When a player tries to hit too hard they swing too fast and they pick the club up, reducing the body rotation and causing a lack of width to the swing. Try to swing with grace!”
