A guide to the fourteenth hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship
Royal Troon Golf Club Hole by Hole: Hole 14
Hole 14 – Par 3 – 178 yards
The 14th is known as ‘Alton’ after the Fullarton estate on the other side of the railway.
Two bunkers protect the green short-right and one protects the left side.
In to wind, anything that leaks will come up short into the bunkers and from there it is a likely bogey.
Players will favour the middle-to-back of this green to avoid sand and hopefully make a simple par-3.
