A guide to the fifth hole on the Old Course at Royal Troon ahead of the 145th Open Championship
Royal Troon Golf Club Hole by Hole: Hole 5
Hole 5 – Par 3 – 209 yards
The fifth is called ‘Greenan’, named after the castle ruins just south of Ayr.
At 195-yards to the front edge, this is a tough par-3 that will be a long iron for most.
The putting surface is guarded by punishing pot bunkers left and short.
With the prevailing wind coming off the right from the sea, a par three will be a good score.
