Chambers Bay hole-by-hole guide: hole 16
A guide to hole 16, named 'Beached', at Chambers Bay
A guide to Chambers Bay's hole 16 ahead of the 2015 US Open.
Chambers Bay hole 16 - Beached - Par 4 - 396 yards
You might be able to guess where hole 16's name originates from. The right side of the hole is hugged by a large sandy bunker that even runs just past the green.
There's a slope toward the right-hand bunker, too, meaning players will have to aim as far left as possible without sending their shot into a much smaller bunker.
The green is the smallest on the course, with a significant slope from left to right.
In 2010, David Chung conceded this hole in the US Amateur Championship, allowing Peter Uihlein to win 4&2.
