Adam Scott has withdrawn from this week’s Australian PGA Championship after injuring his right knee.
Scott, 28, had finished a session of body surfing when he twisted his right knee, and he will now undergo precautionary scans ahead of next week’s Australian Open in Sydney.
"He was coming out of the surf on Sunday morning and he's obviously stood in a sand depression," Scott's manager Justin Cohen said.
"He went for a body surf and was making his way through the shallow water and twisted his knee a little bit.
"It's a very minor, little issue with his knee and we fully expect him to be back in action and ready to go for the Aussie Open next week.”
Meanwhile, despite missing the cut at last week’s Australian Masters, John Daly has extended his stay down under to play in both the PGA and Open.
The Amercian was labelled a “train wreck” by rival Stuart Appleby for his wayward personal life, although a bright showing at Hong Kong Open a fortnight ago suggests Daly is still capable of competing at the very top.
Elsewhere, the Race to Dubai takes a one-week break before heading to South Africa for the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
