Padraig Harrington has been named Player of the Year by his fellow professionals on the PGA Tour.
Harrington became the first European to win the award thanks largely to his successful defence of the Open at Royal Birkdale, and his US PGA triumph a few weeks later.
In addition, Harrington, 37, recorded four other top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour including a tie for fifth at the US Masters.
The Irishman is the fourth international player to be named PGA Tour Player of the Year joining Nick Price, Greg Norman and Vijay Singh.
And it was Fiji’s Singh that Harrington pipped to the award as well as Colombian hot-shot Camilo Villegas, Ryder Cup star Kenny Perry, and world No.1 Tiger Woods.
It caps a fantastic year for the Dubliner after his two Majors, as well as numerous other awards including European Tour Player of the Year and European Shot of the Year.
Meanwhile, Bernard Langer scooped Champions Tour Player of the Year thanks to three victories last season.
