In his third professional start, 20-year-old Tom Lewis won the 2011 Portugal Masters on 16 October, beating Spain's Rafael Cabrera-Bello by two shots. Shooting a final round of 65 at Oceânico Victoria course in Vilamoura, the Englishman captured his first professional title.

The Arnold Palmer-designed course brought in a record gallery of 40,000 for the tournament's fifth year. "From start to finish I had lots of people walking round giving me great support, the crowds on Sunday generated a great atmosphere.

"The Oceânico Victoria course was in superb condition and the hospitality I was shown was second to none," Lewis said. With the win, he acquired a two-year exemption on the European Tour circuit.

Granted an invitation by tournament hosts, Lewis made the most of his opportunity and did not disappoint.

"We could not be happier with Tom's win, to put on such a spectacular performance after being granted an invite is testament to both him as a person and his outstanding talent," Oceânico Group CEO Gerry Fagan said.

"With record galleries once again in attendance, 122 media accreditations issued on site and television coverage broadcast around the globe, the tournament continues to go from strength-to-strength and is a crucial driver of tourism in Portugal."
