Alsace, Golf among the Vineyards

Alsace is a beautiful part of France, which produces over 160 million bottles of wine a year. But does the golf reach the same standard as some of its gold medal winning wines?

Gorgeous scenery, but is there any room for good golf courses among all those endless vineyards? Yes - just about! I begin at the Links of Alsace, a friendly club with a tough track from the back tees and some great par 3s over water. Then comes the hugely enjoyable LaLargue minutes from the Swiss border, followed by Ammerschwihr in the heart of the Alsace region with a fabulous run of holes from the 8th through to the 17th - truly a track all about position from the tee.
