Czech Republic - Prague
Prague has been a popular city for short breaks over the past few years but now golfers are discovering its courses have lots to offer too…
GETTING THERE
Czech Airlines (www.czechairlines.co.uk, 0870 444 3747) offers regular flights from London, Manchester and Edinburgh. EasyJet (www.easyjet.co.uk, 0870 600 0000) also offers regular flights from five UK airports.
WHERE TO PLAY
The beautiful city of Prague is the most popular destination for tourists who are stunned by the beauty of its architecture and by the energy and excitement surrounding the whole city. However, Prague also serves as a fantastic base for golfers.
There are half a dozen courses within striking distance of the city, including Golf Resort Karlstejn, which is one of the most popular. The course here has hosted four Challenge Tour events and provides great views of the nearby Karlstejn Castle. Further afield you?ll discover Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázne, the country?s oldest course, dating back to 1905. The layout played host to the 1995 Czech Open and contains elements of traditional Scottish and Irish design.
OFF COURSE
Away from the golf course, the Czech Republic offers a fine array of activities. If it?s relaxation you?re after then spa towns such as Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázne ? which were fashionable in the 19th century ? utilise mineral springs to provide a variety of treatments.
