A guide to the second hole at Oakmont Country Club ahead of the 2016 US Open
US Open 2016 Oakmont Country Club: Hole 2
2nd Hole – Par 4 – 340 yards
The second hole at Oakmont Country Club measures 140-yards shorter than the first and does present a birdie opportunity.
There’s a ditch on the left and a cluster of bunkers on the right so most players will prioritise hitting this fairway with a long iron. There is a bunker around 50 yards short of the green which will catch any tee shots hit too far.
From there it’s just a wedge into this well-protected green where you have to be putting from under the hole, otherwise a birdie could easily be turned into a bogey three putts later.
Don’t go long, or you’ll face a bunker shot where the green runs away from you.
